Matthew Kimura

Matthew’s passion for food has always been a life long interest.  He grew up helping out in the kitchen of the family restaurant Ginko. After graduating from the University of Guelph where he studied History, Matt began to focus on developing his interest in Japanese cuisine.  After a semester of hotel restaurant management at Humber College, Matthew became an Intern on Food Network’s Chrisitine Cushing Live (season 3).  After proving himself in the kitchen and the TV studio Matt was hired to work on Martin Yan – Quick and Easy, Man Made Food, and Christine Cushing Live (season 4). When Matthew’s father decided to open a second Ginko Restaurant in Quebec City Matt relocated to help set up the family business.  Following managing and cooking in Quebec City for a few years Matt has turned over the day to day operations of Ginko to his brother and returned to Toronto where he’s currently specializing in Japanese Wa-shoku cuisine.
