Elizabeth Baird is a proud graduate of Miss Finlay’s home economics classes, Stratford Collegiate Institute and the University of Toronto. A degree in French set her up to teach, but the lure of the kitchen, nourished by a matriarchy of fine Perth County cooks, drew her to the world of food, and her first cookbook, Classic Canadian Cooking. She has been a weekly columnist for the Toronto Star, and since 1988, the Toronto Sun, co-host of “Canadian Living Cooks” on Food Network Canada, and, for 20 years, the food editor of Canadian Living Magazine. Elizabeth likes to think that courses at George Brown College in Toronto, The Ritz in Paris and Neil Baxter’s cooking weekends at Rundles have contributed to her appreciation of honest to goodness food.
