Dick Snyder

Dick was bitten by the food and wine bug at an early age, but received his major schooling 15 or so years ago at the Globe and Mail, where he edited food and wine articles by John Allemang, David Lawrason, Beppi Crosariol and Joanne Kates.

Their enthusiasm for great food and drink — coupled with a decided non-pretentiousness — informed his gourmet pursuits. He continued his informal schooling by hanging out with chefs and sommeliers (often as designated driver), and these relationships led to the launch, seven years ago, of CityBites magazine — Toronto’s only publication dedicated to food and drink and celebrating the city’s gourmet excellence.

Dick writes on wine, food and lifestyle for a variety of newspapers and magazines, and has also appeared on radio and TV. Up until last year, he was the editorial director for Totem (formerly Redwood), North America’s leading custom communications company.
